JOİNT PROJECTS İN THE FİELD OF JUSTİCE ARE SUCCESSFULLY İMPLEMENTED WİTH THE WORLD BANK
Progressive judicial-legal reforms under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev are highly valued by influential international organizations, including the World Bank, and joint projects are being successfully implemented in this area. Within the framework of these projects, as well as the state budget, new and modern buildings and complexes for 16 courts have been built and put into operation.
The Head of State, who has unveiled many of them, highly appreciated these reforms carried out jointly with the Bank. Also, the World Bank has declared the winners of the nominations for innovations, considering it one of the most successful in projects in the field of justice.
On February 22, Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council Fikrat Mammadov met with World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Ms. Tembon.
Noting the fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank, the Minister briefed on the work carried out by the President of the country, Mr Ilham Aliyev, on judicial reforms in the international arena, including the modernization of the infrastructure and the implementation of the Electronic Judicial information system. Noted the support of the World Bank. He also talked about other innovations and achievements in the judiciary, and added that volunteers were involved in providing citizens with services. The minister emphasized the international interest of our country in these spheres and that many countries benefit from our positive experience.
Noting that Azerbaijan s comprehensive progress was reflected in the World Bank s Doing Business 2019 report, Ms. Tembon said that our country was one of the ten most reforming countries in the world. Mersi Tembon was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and noted with the satisfaction that the head of state attaches great importance to the development of the judicial system and the continuation of mutual cooperation with the Bank in this area.
Appreciating the cooperation of the World Bank with the Ministry of Justice, she underlined that the successful work in the field of justice is an example in the world, expressing admiration on the course and outcome of the project said she was witnessing the highest level of judicial system modernization when she was acquainted with the Court Complex in Shaki.
She noted that the achievements of Azerbaijan in this sphere are found in rare countries of the world. The introduction of modern technologies in the judicial system and the creation of all conditions for videoconferences serve the accessibility of the population, including vulnerable groups, to the transparency and efficiency of judicial activities.
The prospects of cooperation were discussed at the meeting, highlighting the importance of our country s achievements in this area in the wider world agreed to hold joint events noted that The World Bank is ready to continue supporting the judicial and legal reforms.
