INFORMATION OF THE JUDICIAL-LEGAL COUNCIL AND GENERAL PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE
Particular attention is paid to increasing the judiciary’s sense of responsibility, eliminating corruption and other negative consequences that lead to justified dissatisfaction of citizens within the framework of measures to increase the effectiveness of justice.
Recently, the Judicial-Legal Council has terminated the powers of the 9 judges associated with corruption or has been discharged from office.
Materials about the judge of the Zagatala District Court, Arif Ismayilov, whose powers were terminated due to the gross violations of the legislation and the circumstances causing corruption were sent to Headquarters for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to provide a legal assessment of the nature of criminal offenses based on the Judicial-Legal Council’s decision.
Criminal proceedings were instituted and during the investigation was found that the judge of the Zagatala District Court, Arif Ismayilov and his adviser, Shahid Allahverdiyev, demanded a bribe by establishing non-procedural relationships with a party to a civil case under trial.
In this regard, A.Ismayilov was convicted under articles 311.1 (bribery) of the Criminal Code and S.Allahverdiyev with articles 32.4 and 312.1 (incite bribery) by the Headquarters for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, the arrest warrant was chosen by the court decision.
At present, the necessary investigative measures are underway to determine the scope of the accused persons and bring them to criminal responsibility.
